I knew there was a coupon!serebii wrote:In The Games Department

The Global Link has announced the first attraction in the PokéMileage club for Pokémon X & Y.
...
In addition to this, they have announced a special Global Link distribution of the Discount Coupon item. This item gives you a 50% discount in all Boutiques across the Kalos region. This item will be distributed from January 15th 2014 in Japan and is one per game. Details of a North American and European distribution are not known, but the announcement of the attraction has yet to come there. We'll bring full details on both of these as they come.
But of course it's only in Japan.

And it's a total waste unless they're also releasing moar clothes. Because by now, everyone has already bought all the outfits they want, and possibly all the ones they don't want, just to flaunt their wealth.
For such a good base game, this is one of the worst-managed releases they've ever done.

So I finally got the discount coupon, even though I don't need it. Oh, well. I always did like getting things I don't need.
EDIT: NO MORE NEED FOR LIST! SPARKLES YAY!

I seem to have a lot of problems against a Trevenant/Aegislash core. Luckily, the game that I discovered this in resulted in a big misplay from my opponent letting me win it. Pretty boring for a while then it suddenly opens up. Replay!
That was a really boring start, yeah. I get that Pokemon is all about switching in and out (and predicting this) when you're doing serious battles, but still, very boring. And then Megazard leaps out, takes a wish, and curb-stomps everything like a boss.

Tried out double battles. I just adjusted my 1on1 team to add in AoE moves and Protect.
Got a great start in this battle, confusion, toxic, and super effective attacks aplenty.

Battlespot Doubles is an interesting format, the restrictions on switching make it more consistant and faster. Anyone familiar with Triple Battles though?
I'd like Nidoking to get a mega-Evolution, turn into a Poison/Dragon and keep Sheer Force.

Well, I've done a fair amount of Triples in the Chateau en Bleu if that counts. The targeting restrictions are interesting, and you can set some pretty good combos up, however it's harder to make a set where everyone has a "hit everyone" move that their allies resist/are immune to. I mean, doubles lets you have a Ground type with Earthquake and a Flying or Levitator with Discharge, but adding a third means doubling up on your typing, and you're not going to mesh a third type in there and still keep the teamwide immunity (Surf, Leaf Storm or whatever it is, Boomburst, etc.)

It gets Dig and Bounce. If the Ability were extended to also cover Cooldown moves, then that'd also cover Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
I actually wrote up a whole bunch, but they're the only ones that got artwork so far. Mega-Marowak becomes Ghost/Ground with Manifest (like Pixilate/Refrigerate/Aerialate, it turns Normal moves into Ghost ones then adds 30% power). Mega-Bisharp gets Crafty Angle (+10% power and accuracy when attacking diagonally in double/triple battles). Mega-Chandelure gets Evaporate (incoming water damage is halved back down to 100% damage, its Fire attacks are 75% against Water rather than 50%). Mega-Delphox gets Spell Guard (reverses the effectiveness of incoming attacks). Mega-Pyroar gets Wildfire (every round that it's in grassy terrain or Grassy Terrain is in effect, its Sp. Att. increases).
Those were the only new abilities I put in. In general, I tried to either just make a pokemon stronger (if it wasn't very good to begin with) or adjust the way it gets used (so something comes in with a usual tactic, and then changes its playstyle).
I should have drawn them with crayons and sent them to Gamefreak with a letter of "Hello Mister Gamefreak I am eight and these are my favrit pokemon can you please give these Mega Evos?"

They have now released Pokemon Bank in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and everywhere else except the States, and there's still no date given as to when it will be released here. That is not shiny.
edit: Speaking of shiny, it is ridiculously easy to get shiny Pokemon in Gen VI; it just requires a bit of patience, Suction Cups and Sweet Scents.
See, a new mechanic called "chaining" was introduced. Basically, the way it works is the more times you successfully and consecutively catch Pokemon either by fishing or horde, the percentage of a shiny Pokemon appearing gets higher. The chain gets broken, however, if you move to a different spot or (in the case of fishing) you fail to get a nibble. The best way to go about this is to have a Pokemon with the Suction Cups ability when fishing, and a Pokemon that knows Sweet Scent when hording, because then you won't fail to get a hit.
I caught a shiny Basculin and Arbok this way.

I've never done any cross-gen transfers before now, and I understand that they were almost all infinitely more laborious than this. But holy shit this is a convoluted process. At the very least they couldn't make it so the Pokemon Transporter app is capable of letting you choose which box to bring forward, instead of making you shove everything into Box1?

It's also a tremendous douchebag. You cannot transfer cheated Pokemon, ever. If you do then you get banned from using Pokemon Bank. How dickish is that? Now I can't bring over my shiny Mew and Arceus. NOT. COOL.
I also hate how you can't transfer items.

Every fucking generation they do that. And the end result? Every single game since 4Gen involves Arceus Plates lying around the place and people wandering over to hand you the Dragon Balls. Not to mention every generation needs an ice rock, a moss rock, an electric zone, a set of meteors, a box full of electrical junk... and so on, just for special alternate forms and evolutions.Shrapnel wrote:I also hate how you can't transfer items.

In Gen IV they actually let you transfer items from Gen III when you Pal Parked, and the game didn't explode from it or anything. But ever since Gen IV it's been lol nope. Which is kind of funny for the reasons you pointed out--Gen IV introduced so many bullshit items that they should have realized that they'd save themselves a lot of trouble in future games by not changing that restriction.Koumei wrote:Every fucking generation they do that. So do we know if it lets you transfer pokemon that you caught via events when you cheated the event to be active? I assume the answer is yes, because the pokemon data should just say "Met: in a fateful event" or whatever, and there should be no "the event was fake" tag, whereas "Met: in Viridian Forest" for Arceus would fail the test.
